We did not expect this to happen! Good things really do happen to good people and kindness is paid forward.
Our launch competition was won by a lady called Lucy Kerr. When we contacted her after the live launch draw as you may expect she wrote back, but we did not anticipate this response:
Craftywafty has always been about a community of people that enjoy to craft together. We asked Lucy about her sister and why she wanted to gift her prize to her, this is what she wrote:
Thank you so much, you are all incredibly kind and have really cheered my sister up! If you could have heard how excited she was!!
Over lockdown my sister arranged a food bank for the local community and personally did shopping for some of the elderly residents where she lives, she is still doing it now! Unfortunately it has shed light on how much some of the elderly people have to struggle by themselves, for example one of the ladies had her gas cut off because of a leak. She had no cooking facilities except a microwave which she didn't know how to operate. My sister bought her groceries, a toaster, showed her how to use the microwave and generally just kept a close eye on her to make sure she was looked after and managing to eat warm meals.
I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am of her. We are both hermits who stay indoors crafting, and new craft items are the most exciting gift she could ever receive so it was my absolute pleasure to be able to surprise her!
I am more than proud of my sister. I honestly believe in karma and believe that your kindness will be rewarded.
Like so many people Lucy and her sister have their own struggles but selflessly care for other people. It is wonderful that there was more than one winner of the prize.
